From the moment I discovered Unregistered User, I was completely captivated by not only the melodic beats but the range of sounds he creates within his music. Whether it’s a LoFi tune or a harder flow featuring a rapper or (my personal favorite) Alan Watts sample, each track is different, leaving you to want to hear more. I took a moment to chat with Unregi about his upcoming release, Caged City.
Name one album everyone should have in their collection:
Beats, Rhymes & Life by A Tribe Called Quest
How long have you been making music?
I’ve been making music at this capacity since 2019, when I officially took the name Unregistered User, but was creating a little bit before that as well but I just didn’t have a name yet.
What artists do you draw inspiration from the most?
I draw inspiration from artists and producers like, MF Doom, Mad Lib, Travis Scott, A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, Nujabes, ASAP Rocky, Wu Tang Clan, just to name a few. Kanye West is another huge influence on me as well.
How would you describe your sound to a first-time listener?
I believe I’m very versatile, as I produce vintage boombap, LoFi and trap style tracks. But in terms of sound I would say reflective/nostalgic, chill, smooth and even at times psychedelic.
Check out Unregistered User on Spotify and all streaming platforms and keep your eyes peeled for Caged City, dropping 9/17.
